The meeting was an informal discussion, with
no voting as only two board members were present, and three were needed for
a quorum. Present were Ken Semmens, Fred Hays, Dr. Jonathan Eya, Jonathan
Browning, Rob Nichols, and Jack and Claudia Workman.
We met at the South Charleston Ramada Inn in
South Charleston, WV to review the site for our annual meeting and
Aquaculture Forum. We have decided on Saturday January 19, 2008. We also
proposed a tour of WV Aqua in Logan County, on the previous afternoon,
Friday, January 18, 2008. Different proposals mentioned for discussion at
the forum were water cress, pond management, aquaculture regulations, and
fish health. These topics are not final or definite. Their will be morning
and afternoon sessions, with the afternoon session being broken up so people
may attend the session of interest.
Ken Semmens brought up the treasurers report,
we have recently started a new account at Huntington Bank at $125.00, and
our established account at First Community Bank is $4373.00.
Another item discussed was developing a web
site. Rob Nichols and John Browning contacted 4 designers/hosts, Feud
Country of Sarah Ann, WV offered the most reasonable deal for our budget.
Directors will vote on this proposal by mail as I have included a ballot in
their envelope along with the proposal.
Another proposal for the annual 2008 meeting
was making an amendment to the West Virginia Aquaculture Association by-laws
to allow its serving directors to appoint proxy appointments at our board of
director meetings when they are absent. This will be discussed and
introduced to the floor at the annual 2008 meeting.
The meeting was over at 1:30 pm.
